The Way We Sat
You across from me,
inhaling
the nicotine death filled inspiration,
the musk pushing its way
into my clothes.
Together we stink of question
marks, Kool-Aid
dead or dying grandparents.
The old mixed with wet rain.
Its black crayon.
Someone is scribbling over my empty heart.
Not even in the lines,
so hard
the black crayons gone missing from the box.
In 5th grade when I found out what addiction was
in front of the class room,
I learned I could die
scribble out my own life by legal choice.
Together the smell of death lingers on our hands.
